Deepak Booneady was promoted to Group Chief Executive Officer by Sun Siyam Group, one of the privately held hotel businesses in the Indian Ocean. His appointment took effect on January 1, 2026. This appointment represents a turning point in Sun Siyam Group’s ongoing development, reaffirming its dedication to long-term expansion, brand enhancement and purpose driven leadership throughout its diverse portfolio of companies.
As the former distinguished CEO of Sun Siyam Resorts, Deepak has played a pivotal role in the Group’s evolution. Throughout his tenure, he was instrumental in pushing significant strategic initiatives, improving guest experience philosophy and fortifying brand positioning that honours the resort group’s unique island legacy while setting it up for future significance on the world’s luxury stage.
Under his direction, Sun Siyam has improved its international visibility and attractiveness in important foreign markets while continuing to grow and improve its portfolio in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Building and empowering high performing teams as the cornerstone of long term brand growth is a key component of his leadership style, which is rooted in a deep commitment to people, culture and talent development.
As Group Chief Executive Officer, Deepak will be in charge of Sun Siyam Group and its diverse portfolio, managing long term brand development, strategic expansion and the ongoing development of the Group’s businesses.
