Maldives commemorates 18 years of business in India.

The national airline of the Maldives, Maldivian, celebrated its historic presence in one of its most strategically significant markets with a special commemorative event to honour 18 years of flights to India.

India operations have been a crucial component of the Maldives’ regional connection and development for almost 20 years. Currently, Maldivian has five weekly flights to Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram. These routes have been crucial in bolstering access to vital markets and improving connection between the Maldives and key Indian cities over the last eighteen years. The network has further strengthened the tight relations between the two neighbouring countries by supporting travel for medical, educational, commercial, and tourism purposes. India, one of the airline’s most prominent overseas markets, continues to play a major role in Maldivian’s larger goal of linking the Maldives with vital locations throughout the region.

In order to reflect on the airline’s journey in the Indian market and to honour the achievements of individuals who have helped shape its success over the years, the event gathered together important stakeholders, partners, and team members. In honour of their commitment, devotion, and unwavering support over Maldivian’s eighteen years of operations in India, long-serving employees and esteemed partners received commemorative medals as part of the event.
