The 737-8 is the 200th Boeing aircraft to join Malaysia Airlines’ fleet.
Malaysia Airlines celebrates the arrival of its fourth Boeing 737-8 aircraft this year, which is also the airline’s 200th Boeing aircraft ever delivered.
Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of MAG stated , “This delivery holds special significance as it marks the 200th Boeing aircraft to join the Malaysia Airlines fleet since 1972. This milestone represents a long-standing operational history that has supported our capacity growth and fleet evolution throughout the decades as we continue our fundamental purpose of linking Malaysia to the globe. It goes beyond simply adding to our fleet. As we continue to provide our customers with a more contemporary and comfortable flying experience, the launch of these next-generation aircraft will further boost our capacity to support future growth prospects and changing market needs.”
The aircraft, known as flight MH5045, was piloted by Captain Arian Syazwara B. Adenan, Captain Mohd Aidilputra bin Abd Razak, and First Officer Ahmad Asnawi bin Ahmad Rahman. It took 19 hours and 44 minutes to reach KL International Airport (KLIA) on May 24, 2026.
With its increased fuel efficiency, increased dependability, and improved passenger comfort, the Boeing 737-8 is reportedly crucial to the group’s narrowbody operations. Out of the 55 Boeing narrowbody aircraft that MAG ordered, 18 Boeing 737-8s and 12 Boeing 737-10s have been delivered thus far, and deliveries are planned until 2030.
