Air India and Thai Airways Sign MoU to Strengthen India–Thailand Connectivity.

Subject to the necessary regulatory clearances, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed on June 7, 2026, with the goal of increasing travel options between India and Thailand and improving customer value throughout their respective networks.

Building on their current interline agreement, Air India and Thai Airways International (THAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to investigate a deeper partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity between Thailand, India, and other destinations by utilising each other’s global network strengths. On June 7, 2026, during the ongoing IATA AGM in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed.

Subject to the necessary regulatory permissions, Air India and THAI plan to execute a codeshare agreement in 2026 that will increase travel alternatives between India and Thailand and improve customer value throughout their respective networks.

In order to give their customers easy access to a number of locations throughout Asia, North America, and Europe, the two Star Alliance member airlines plan to use their respective designator codes—”AI” for Air India and “TG” for THAI on each other’s flights between India and Thailand as well as on a few international routes from the two nations. In due course, the precise conditions governing the proposed codeshare agreement will be made public.

Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Air India stated,  “India and Thailand are connected by long-standing cultural ties, growing economic engagement, and strong flows of tourism and business travel. Deeper cooperation amongst top airlines will be essential to facilitating that growth by making travel more convenient and accessible as Asia solidifies its position at the center of global expansion. This Memorandum of Understanding with Thai Airways unites two carriers with complementary capabilities and a common dedication to provide exceptional customer service. Additionally, it advances Air India’s overarching goal of improving India’s global connections while providing our clients with more options and better value.”

“The MoU with Air India marks a meaningful milestone in our strategy to strengthen the regional connectivity and better serve passengers travelling between Thailand, India, and destination beyond,” said Chai Eamsiri, Chief Executive Officer of THAI. It also demonstrates the airlines’ mutual dedication to fostering economic expansion, encouraging interpersonal interactions, and advancing further collaboration between the two nations.
