Etihad and DCT Abu Dhabi offer free medical insurance to foreign travellers.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Etihad Airways, the official airline of the United Arab Emirates, have teamed to provide free medical travel insurance to qualified foreign guests arriving in Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated flights.

The program, which will be offered from July to December 2026 in collaboration with The National Insurance Company-Daman, is intended to improve the visitor experience by giving them more peace of mind throughout their time in the United Arab Emirates.

Travellers who qualify for the program will be provided with free medical insurance coverage in the UAE for a maximum of 15 days. There won’t be a separate application process because the cover will be automatically included with eligible Etihad tickets. Visitors arriving in Abu Dhabi on flights operated by Etihad that have both the point of origin and the point of sale outside of the United Arab Emirates will be qualified. Subject to limitations and conditions, guests who use Etihad’s free stopover program will likewise be covered for the duration of their stay.

In response to the ongoing demand for Abu Dhabi as a bucket-list destination and demonstrating Etihad’s commitment to making every guest’s experience as simple as it is remarkable, the program gives travellers one less thing to worry about and one more reason to make reservations.

Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi stated, “Global interest in Abu Dhabi continues to grow, reflecting the destination’s unparalleled year-round cultural, tourism, and entertainment offering. This program guarantees that we provide an outstanding, comprehensive guest experience in order to satisfy that demand. Our collaboration with Etihad will raise the bar for destination standards and guarantee that visitors feel appreciated, cared for, and welcomed from the time they make their reservation.”

Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways stated,  “Abu Dhabi is one of the most captivating places in the world, and our aim is to make both getting here and being here as seamless as possible. Every qualified Etihad ticket comes with complete medical insurance, allowing our visitors to fully enjoy the exceptional Emirati hospitality Abu Dhabi has to offer. When a destination and an airline genuinely invest in their travellers, it looks like this.”

“Protecting people’s health and wellbeing is central to Daman’s role as the UAE’s leading health insurer,” stated Khaled Ateeq Aldhaheri, CEO of the National Insurance Company-Daman. Through the direct integration of dependable medical insurance into the travel experience, this project significantly enhances the visitor experience. Daman is pleased to assist Etihad Airways and DCT Abu Dhabi in providing a unique offering for tourists, supported by access to one of the UAE’s most extensive medical provider networks and top-notch healthcare services, building on more than 20 years as a reliable partner in Abu Dhabi’s healthcare ecosystem.

The free medical insurance scheme is a component of larger initiatives by Etihad Airways and DCT Abu Dhabi to boost tourist convenience and confidence while promoting the emirate’s ongoing tourism expansion.
