Marriott International and CP Group to Operate Three New Zealand Properties.

Marriott International has announced plans to debut its flagship Marriott Hotels and Autograph Collection brands in New Zealand, adding three new properties and 335 rooms to its growing portfolio in the country. The company has signed agreements with CP Group to develop and operate three hotels in Rotorua, Auckland and Wellington, further strengthening its presence across New Zealand.
The new properties are expected to open between 2027 and 2029, expanding accommodation options for travellers and Marriott Bonvoy members across the North Island. The projects will introduce the Marriott Hotels brand to Rotorua for the first time, while Autograph Collection will make its debut in both Auckland and Wellington.
The Rotorua Marriott Hotel is planned as a conversion of the existing Arawa Park Hotel Rotorua. The property will undergo an extensive 12-month renovation before reopening as Rotorua Marriott Hotel in late 2027. The project will mark Marriott’s entry into Rotorua, a destination known for its geothermal landscapes and rich Māori cultural heritage.
In Auckland, The Official Auckland, Autograph Collection is expected to open in 2028 with 82 rooms. The hotel will be created through the transformation of a historic building on Eden Crescent in the city’s central business district. The property will combine contemporary luxury with the building’s historic character and will become Marriott’s fourth hotel in Auckland.
Meanwhile, Fable Wellington, Autograph Collection is scheduled to open in 2029. Located at the corner of Lambton Quay and Stout Street, the 118-room hotel will involve the redevelopment of a historic 1940s office building. It will add to CP Group’s existing portfolio of five Fable hotels across New Zealand.
The three agreements build on the relationship between Marriott International and CP Group, following the previously announced St. Regis Queenstown project. Together, the new properties are expected to strengthen Marriott’s presence across New Zealand’s key destinations while supporting the conversion and revitalisation of heritage buildings.
Marriott currently operates two hotels in New Zealand — JW Marriott Auckland and Four Points by Sheraton Auckland. The company also has two properties in its pipeline, Sheraton Christchurch and Moxy Auckland, both expected to open in 2027.
With the addition of the three CP Group properties, Marriott will expand its brand presence and offer Marriott Bonvoy members more opportunities to stay, earn and redeem points while exploring New Zealand.
