Singapore Airlines and Air India sign framework agreement to strengthen strategic alliance.

With the signing of a framework agreement for commercial collaboration, Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) would be able to expand their long-standing partnership through final joint business agreements. Customers will have more options and advantages thanks to the airlines’ increased cooperation as they investigate methods to enhance connectivity between Singapore and India. On January 16, 2026, Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, and Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, signed the framework agreement in Mumbai.
The airlines intend to improve and broaden their product and service offerings, allowing for smooth connections and additional route options, as well as the ability for customers to book flights on both airlines under a single, cohesive journey, subject to regulatory approvals and the signing of final joint business agreements.
In order to enhance consumer convenience, this agreement also envisions Air India and SIA coordinating flight schedules more closely. In order to better serve business travellers, it might also be expanded to incorporate more cross participation in the airlines’ corporate travel initiatives. The airlines will look into ways to gradually expand the Star Alliance advantages available to members of SIA’s KrisFlyer frequent flyer program and Air India’s Maharaja Club. Subject to regulatory permissions, Air India and SIA also want to look into ways to expand their cooperation in specific markets outside of Singapore and India.
In addition to supporting traffic flow via the hubs of both carriers, this will boost the air travel markets in Singapore and India and satisfy the growing need for global connectivity. The airline now has codesharing on 61 locations across 20 nations and territories. This comes after their codeshare arrangement was expanded in October 2024, adding 51 domestic and international routes across both networks.
“Air India remains committed to expanding its global footprint, both by adding new aircraft to our own fleet and by forging stronger commercial partnerships, especially with our fellow Star Alliance member carriers,” stated Campbell Wilson, the company’s chief executive officer and managing director. Through this new commercial cooperation understanding, which creates a clear and organised framework for both airlines to explore and identify future areas of deeper collaboration, we are happy to advance our valued, long-term partnership with Singapore Airlines. “This agreement between Singapore Airlines and Air India is a natural evolution of our successful partnership, creating genuine value and delivering enhanced benefits to customers,” stated Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines. It is a calculated, mutually beneficial partnership that will improve connectivity between Singapore and India, boost air travel and tourism in both nations, and reinforce their long-standing commercial and interpersonal relationships.
