Free WiFi is available on KLM flights throughout Europe.

KLM As one of the first European airlines to provide free WiFi to travellers within Europe, Royal Dutch Airlines has announced the launch of free internet access on its flights throughout the continent. The project, which goes into effect on January 22, directly addresses one of the most commonly requested services by KLM customers and represents a big step in improving the short-haul travel experience.

Phased implementation of the free WiFi rollout is underway throughout KLM’s European fleet. Approximately half of the airline’s aircraft flying in Europe have free internet connectivity as of this week. The service will be expanded to include all Airbus A321neo and Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, as well as a subset of the Boeing 737-800 fleet, in the upcoming years.

There are no in-seat entertainment screens on KLM’s European fleet. KLM wants to improve passenger comfort by providing free internet. Passengers can get unrestricted internet access while flying with Flying Blue after signing in or registering as a member. “We listen carefully to what our passengers value and free internet has been on their wish list for a while,” said Stephanie Putzeist, KLM’s customer experience specialist. By allowing everyone to organise their flight however they choose and maintain connectivity, we are enhancing the comfort and personalisation of travel within Europe. We are happy that our passengers can now experience this.

KLM has expanded its fleet by 12 A321neo aircraft since August of last year. These planes, which only fly to destinations in Europe, have contemporary, cosy seats in addition to WiFi.
