Air India and Azerbaijan Airlines sign codeshare partnership.

In order to increase connection between India and Azerbaijan and provide travellers with more flexibility and smooth onwards travel through the combined networks of the two airlines, Air India and Azerbaijan Airlines have formed a new codeshare relationship.

As per the agreement, Air India will add its “AI” designator code to Azerbaijan Airlines’ daily flights between Delhi and Baku as well as Mumbai and Baku, making the capital of Azerbaijan a new destination that Air India can book. Customers using Azerbaijan Airlines-operated services can travel on a single Air India ticket thanks to the cooperation.

Passengers can travel on a single itinerary that combines flights operated by both airlines thanks to the codeshare, which expands on the two carriers’ current interline partnership. For instance, passengers can book an Air India flight from Bangkok to Delhi and then an Azerbaijan Airlines flight to Baku.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer stated, “At Air India, we believe every corner of the world should be within reach of our customers. This partnership with Azerbaijan Airlines is essential to that aim because it enables us to expand our network beyond the places we fly to. From reserving their ticket to check-in and touchdown, our clients going to Baku will benefit from ease and dependability thanks to this codeshare. This is a component of a larger initiative to continue improving India’s connectivity with the rest of the globe.”

Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of Azerbaijan Airlines stated, “India is one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets and an increasingly important destination for both business and leisure travel. An important step toward increasing Azerbaijan Airlines’ global connectivity through strategic alliances is our collaboration with Air India. We are providing passengers with more options, improved connectivity, and a more seamless travel experience between Azerbaijan, India, and beyond by combining the advantages of our networks.”

Through strategic alliances, Air India has grown its global network since it was privatised in 2022. With more than 120 interline alliances and 26 codeshare agreements, the airline currently offers passengers access to more than 1,000 destinations across the globe.
