DGCA confirms IndiGo’s refunds, compensation and “Gesture of Care” for December disruptions.

Refunds and passenger compensation resulting from operational disruptions between December 3 and 5, 2025, are ongoing discussions between IndiGo and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), according to the DGCA.

In accordance with Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series M, Part IV, which specifies the amenities to be offered to passengers in circumstances of rejected boarding, aircraft cancellations, and delays, travellers impacted during this time are entitled to compensation, according to the DGCA.

The regulator has been notified by IndiGo that all reimbursements for flights cancelled between December 3 and 5, 2025, have been completed and paid to the original payment method. Additionally, under the DGCA CAR regulations, travellers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of the planned departure time may be eligible for compensation. Passengers who meet the requirements can file claims using IndiGo’s official compensation platform.

For affected passengers, IndiGo has implemented a “Gesture of Care (GoC)” as an extra customer service measure. As part of this initiative, qualified travellers will get two INR 5,000 travel certificates, totalling INR 10,000 and good for a 12-month period. During the impacted period of December 3–5, 2025, customers whose flights were cancelled or delayed by more than three hours are subject to the GoC. The list of qualifying flights is also available on the IndiGo website, where travellers can verify their eligibility and provide information.

In order to enable prompt communication on schedule changes and facilitate assistance when needed, the DGCA has further advised passengers to make sure that accurate contact details, including email addresses and mobile numbers, are provided at the time of booking, whether directly with the airline or through travel agents.
