Meliá Hotels Ends Management Services at 15 Hotels in Cuba.

Citing changing geopolitical, social, legal, and economic realities in Cuba, Meliá Hotels International, a Spanish hospitality firm, has announced the immediate termination of management and commercialisation services as well as the licensing of its hotel trademarks across 15 hotels in Cuba.
Following the company’s ongoing risk assessment process and reflecting what it described as the necessity to create an orderly and sustainable operational framework, the decision was first communicated to the respective hotel ownership entities on May 26 and is now formally verified.
Meliá claims that a number of outside variables outside the company’s control have significantly affected the operational, legal, and security requirements necessary for the efficient provision of services.
The action was implemented “under a strong commitment to responsible business conduct,” according to a statement from the corporation, with the goal of making sure that activities continue to be in line with the company’s obligations and standards.
The Meliá Collection’s Gran Hotel Bristol Habana Vieja, INNSiDE Catedral Habana, Meliá Buena Vista, Meliá Cayo Santa María, Meliá Jardines del Rey, Meliá Las Dunas, Meliá Península Varadero, Paradisus Los Cayos, Paradisus Princesa Mar, Paradisus Río de Oro, Paradisus Varadero, Sol Caribe Beach, Sol Cayo Santa María, Sol Río de Luna y Mares, and Sol Varadero Beach are among the hotels impacted by the ruling.
The bulk of the impacted hotels are currently non-operational owing to persistent energy limitations and diminished tourism demand in the Cuban market, therefore the business stated that the overall impact is projected to be minor.
The company declared, “Meliá Hotels International reaffirms its commitment to upholding the highest standards of operational integrity and will continue to closely monitor the situation to reassess its future position in the destination.”
Meliá went on to say that it is putting particular action plans into place to guarantee a systematic and well-organised disengagement process. In order to give suppliers, business partners, and customers clear and timely information, communication protocols are being engaged concurrently.
Along with thanking stakeholders for their understanding and ongoing confidence, the company said it will keep an eye on Cuban developments in order to assess any potential future market prospects.
