An important turning point in Air India’s continuous transformation path has been reached with the opening of its first flagship Maharaja Lounge at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Before visitors were welcomed, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, formally launched the lounge
The Maharaja Lounge at Terminal 3’s international dock is 16,000 square feet in size and can hold up to 300 people. With separate zones to accommodate different travel preferences, the facility has a designated Business Class section and an exclusive First Class space called “Air India First.”
The lounge will gradually open to First and Business Class passengers, Maharaja Club Platinum and Gold members, and qualified Star Alliance Gold members as of right now.
The lounge features several distinctive areas. The Aviator’s Bar honours the beginnings of Air India by incorporating design elements from the Puss Moth aircraft and taking inspiration from J. R. D. Tata’s famous 1932 Karachi–Bombay trip. While the Serenity Area offers enclosed recliners for pre-flight leisure, the Globetrotter’s Study provides a peaceful workspace with carefully chosen reading material and high-speed connectivity.
The Crystal Bar, located in the First Class area, offers speciality cocktails and fine sparkling wines in a sophisticated atmosphere with subtly Indian design elements. Additionally, the lounge has individual Sleep Suites where visitors can unwind before leaving.
Air India’s dedication to creating a top-tier airline with an Indian heart is further demonstrated by the Delhi flagship lounge, the first of a planned succession of new-generation lounges at important airports in India and abroad.
