MoCA & Air India Launch Easy Connect Flights.

In order to further develop the Government of India’s hub-and-spoke strategy and provide travellers throughout Punjab with seamless worldwide connectivity, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air India launched “Easy Connect” services from Amritsar. The initiative’s nationwide implementation, which was announced in June 2026, has advanced significantly with this introduction.

Two daily flights from Amritsar to Delhi have been branded as “Easy Connect” services by the airline. Within four hours of arriving in Delhi, these aircraft collectively offer smooth onwards connectivity to 27 international locations, including those in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, West Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of Civil Aviation, Government of India stated, “The expansion of hub-and-spoke operations to Amritsar is another step towards our vision of building an aviation network that truly serves a New India one where global access is no longer confined to a few metropolitan centers but extends to every region of the country. We are fortifying the basis for a more integrated, accessible, and globally competitive aviation environment by enhancing connectivity through Indian hubs.”

International travellers from Amritsar can check in to their final destinations as part of the Easy Connect program, clear immigration procedures at the airport, and enjoy smooth transfers via Delhi without having to switch terminals or recheck their luggage.

This makes it possible for visitors to fly through Delhi as international transit passengers, doing away with the necessity for repetitive procedures and greatly lowering the complexity and unfamiliarity of travel that are frequently connected through foreign airports, including language hurdles.

The inaugural event was attended by senior officials from government agencies, airport stakeholders, and Air India, including Samir Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation; Puneet Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation; Vipin Kumar, Chairman, Airports Authority of India; and P. Balaji, Group Head-Governance, Risk, Compliance & Corporate Affairs, Air India.

In addition to a few locations in Southeast and West Asia, the morning Easy Connect service from Amritsar (Flight AI1113) is scheduled to enable connections to important European locations such as London Heathrow, Birmingham, Paris, Milan, Copenhagen, Vienna, Amsterdam, Zurich, Frankfurt, and Rome.

The late evening service (Flight AI1115) provides connectivity to locations in the United States, Canada, and Australia, including New York (JFK), Newark (New Jersey), San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Melbourne, Sydney, and a few locations in Southeast and West Asia, including Singapore, Phuket, Bali, and Dubai.

Air India will start offering Easy Connect services from Ahmedabad, Goa, Kochi, and a number of other Indian destinations in the upcoming weeks.
