The first of Sun Siyam Iru Fushi’s redesigned water villas is revealed.
A major turning point in the development of Sun Siyam Iru Fushi under Sun Siyam’s recently introduced Luxury Collection has been reached with the unveiling of the first stage of the resort’s design makeover. With a revamped portfolio of overwater accommodations, the five-star resort establishes a new design orientation based on Maldivian craftsmanship and sophisticated island elegance.
Horizon Water Villas with a Private Pool and Redesigned Water Villas
The initial phase of this design change is the recently redesigned over-water villas. Sublime in both form and emotion, they present a modern take on Maldivian rustic grandeur. With a tranquil open-plan design and a large bathroom with a bathtub that overlooks the lagoon, each villa frames the ocean. A feeling of sophisticated, lived-in luxury is created by the various lounging areas, hung hammocks, and private nooks in gentle green hues found on private decks.
A 22 square metre private pool and sunken seating are now included in every Horizon Water Villa, turning the area into a haven for morning rituals, leisurely afternoons and breathtaking sunsets. Bespoke moments guarantee that every visit feels exquisitely customised for couples and honeymooners.
Each of the overwater portfolio’s 40 Water Villas with Pool (123 sqm), 16 Horizon Water Villas with Pool (128 sqm), and 19 Sunset Horizon Water Villas with Pool (128 sqm) seamlessly combines solitude and comfort.
Vision-Driven Design Excellence
Motivated by the group’s determination to establish Sun Siyam Iru Fushi as one of the top luxury resorts in the Maldives, Sun Siyam hired international interior designers Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, who are the founders and creative directors of the London-based Studio Sixty7, to spearhead the makeover. Their method creates a distinctive style that evokes carefree barefoot luxury with subdued hues, organic textures, and delicately carved shapes. A calm yet elegant ambiance is produced by layers of breathable linen, tactile finishes, and gently uneven plastered walls. According to Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, “every element has been chosen to feel grounded and sensorial, inviting guests into a deep sense of calm.”
According to the hotel’s resort manager, Abdulla Atham, “this transformation goes beyond aesthetics it’s a careful orchestration of space, service excellence, and emotional detail. Every aspect of the experience, from villa layouts and in-villa activities to the minibar selection, outdoor offerings, views, and quiet gestures from your butler, is designed to immerse guests in the spirit of chic island living.”
