In 2025, EU tourism nights reached a record 3.08 billion.

The expected number of nights spent at tourist lodging facilities in the EU in 2025 was 3.08 billion, up 61.5 million, or 2%, from the year before. The increase in nights spent by foreign visitors (+46.1 million) was the primary driver of the development in tourist nights, although local visitors’ nights spent increased more slowly (+15.4 million).

In general, the proportion of domestic visitors (51 percent) and foreign visitors (49 percent) on EU tourism nights was fairly balanced. This data is based on preliminary tourism estimates that Eurostat released today. Hotels and comparable lodgings accounted for 1.9 billion nights (63% of the total), followed by vacation homes and other short-term lodgings (743 million, or 24%), and campsites (413 million, or 13%). In 2025, almost all EU nations saw an increase in the number of nights spent in tourist accommodations as compared to 2024. Latvia (+6%), Poland (+7%), and Malta (+10%) saw the biggest increases. There were minor declines in Ireland (-2 percent) and Romania (-1 percent).
