Air India and Riyadh Air Sign MoU to Strengthen India–Saudi Connectivity.

Through their respective networks, Air India and Riyadh Air have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a collaboration with the goal of improving connectivity between Saudi Arabia, India, and other destinations.

The collaboration underscores both full-service carriers’ common goal of using their hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, and Riyadh to provide travellers with seamless travel alternatives.

The two airlines intend to implement interline and codeshare agreements, subject to regulatory permissions, which will allow customers to fly across one other’s networks with a single reservation and take advantage of more seamless subsequent connections.

In order to enhance the entire client experience, the alliance will also investigate cooperation in the areas of loyalty programs, cargo services, operational support, and digital and technological projects.

The agreement, according to the airlines, reflects the strong economic, cultural, and people-to-people relations between Saudi Arabia and India and supports the growing demand for travel driven by business, tourism, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) traffic.

Campbell Wilson, CEO and managing director of Air India stated, “India and Saudi Arabia are two important growth markets in global aviation today, and the scale and momentum in both countries make this a natural partnership. With an emphasis on giving our customers more options across our combined networks and improving their travel experiences, we look forward to collaborating with Riyadh Air to unlock that possibility by combining the complementary qualities of the two airlines.”

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air said, “India is one of the most significant and dynamic aviation markets in the world, and this partnership with Air India marks a defining step in Riyadh Air’s mission to connect Saudi Arabia with key global destinations. Together, we will provide visitors with a flawless, top-notch experience that highlights the close cultural and economic ties between our two countries.”

Air India’s network of international alliances has grown dramatically since it was privatised in 2022. Currently, the airline has over 120 interline agreements and 25 codeshare arrangements with top carriers worldwide, giving Air India customers easy access to more than 1,000 destinations.

Flights to London Heathrow are now available for purchase on Riyadh Air’s website and app, with the first flights scheduled to depart on July 1. This new route increases the opportunities for business, leisure, and family travel by providing Indian visitors with a direct entrance to the UK and Europe via smooth connections through Riyadh.
