Singapore Airlines to Launch Starlink-Powered High-Speed Wi-Fi by 2027.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2027, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will gradually roll out Starlink‘s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based broadband service to improve in-flight connectivity.

The rollout will provide much faster and more dependable internet connectivity for all cabin classes on SIA’s Airbus A350-900 long-haul (LH), A350-900 ultra-long-range (ULR), and A380 aircraft.

The service will provide multi-gigabit connectivity via its Aero Terminal, supporting speeds of up to 1 Gbps per antenna. It is powered by Starlink, which maintains more than 10,000 satellites in low Earth orbit. From takeoff until landing, travellers will have uninterrupted connectivity, facilitating activities like social media sharing, online gaming, video streaming, and massive file transfers.

On Starlink-enabled aircraft, unlimited free Wi-Fi will remain available to passengers in Suites, First Class, and Business Class as well as PPS Club members and KrisFlyer members in Premium Economy and Economy Class.

Economy and Premium Economy To receive the free service, class travellers must present their KrisFlyer membership information at the time of booking or during check-in. Non-members can use their personal devices to register for the free loyalty program online or onboard via KrisWorld.com.

Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines stated, “Fast, seamless connectivity is, today, an essential part of the travel experience. Throughout our whole fleet, Singapore Airlines currently provides the most extensive free in-flight Wi-Fi in the world.” By providing next-generation high-speed internet, Starlink will take this to the next level. Customers will be able to stay engaged, connected, and productive during their trip, with a more seamless experience from takeoff to landing.

“We are thrilled to bring Starlink on board Singapore Airlines,” stated Jason Fritch, Vice President of Starlink Enterprise Sales at SpaceX. Soon, seamless, low-latency communication will be available to both customers and personnel while they travel. Starlink is expanding the possibilities for both pleasure and business travellers by making every flight more pleasurable and infinitely more connected, whether they are travelling long-haul or ultra-long-haul distances.
