Armenia grants temporary visa-free entry to eligible Indian citizens, among 113 countries.

In an effort to increase tourism and improve international connection, the Republic of Armenia has established a temporary visa exemption policy that enables qualified foreign nationals to travel without a visa. The measure will be in force until July 1, 2026, having gone into effect on January 1, 2026.

The new law will allow travellers to enter Armenia without a visa if they have a valid resident permit issued by the United States, European Union Member States, Schengen Area countries, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or Oman. The exemption is applicable to citizens of 113 countries, including the Philippines, various African, Asian, and Latin American countries, as well as India, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

As long as their residence visa is valid for at least six months after the date of entrance, eligible visitors are allowed to stay in Armenia for a maximum of 180 days in a year. The residence permit needs to be shown as a sticker attached to the passport or as a real card. Permits that exhibit important information in Latin script, such as the document title, the traveler’s name, nationality, birthdate, and validity duration in Gregorian calendar format, will be recognised by border officials.

In order to establish Armenia as a friendly and approachable travel destination by 2026, the program aims to promote impromptu travel, quick getaways, family vacations, business travels, and longer exploratory expeditions.

Lusine Gevorgyan, the chairman of the Armenian Tourism Committee stated, “This decision is a clear invitation to travellers worldwide. We look forward to sharing our culture, scenery, and hospitality with more tourists throughout 2026 because Armenia is a kind and open country.”
