“Essence of Saudi” is being held in Kolkata by the Saudi Tourism Authority.

This past week, the Saudi Tourism Authority’s consumer facing brand, “Saudi, Welcome to Arabia,” organised an exclusive experiential exhibition, “Essence of Saudi,” in Kolkata, the largest city in Eastern India, building on the tremendous momentum of the recent “Spectacular Saudi” campaign. The event was held at Ozora, a rooftop eatery at the exclusive Acropolis Mall in the city.
Using signature scents inspired by several towns and areas of Saudi Arabia, the event was carefully arranged as an immersive experience with a fragrance theme. A unique fragrance profile was used to evoke the ambiance, culture, and natural environment of the Saudi cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Taif, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage Site of AlUla and the beautiful Saudi Red Sea.
Spice Woods, which combine warm spices with earthy, musky, and woody scents, were the embodiment of the capital, Riyadh. Citrus Elixir, a comforting blend of tangerine and bergamot, embodies Jeddah, the lively seaside gateway. Regal Oudh (Taif), a herbaceous oudh-forward aroma blended with earthy woods, soft leather, smoky amber, and mild spice, embodies Taif, which has long been praised for its roses and perfumery legacy. Amber Patchouli, a blend of earthy patchouli and rich, resinous amber, symbolises AlUla, which was once the meeting point of ancient civilisations, while Ocean Breeze, a clean, green, marine-inspired aroma, represents the Saudi Red Sea.
Collectively, these fragrances honour a location known for its unspoiled landscape, rich cultural heritage, and Saudi Vision 2030, which is based on sustainability and transformative travel. “Essence of Saudi” was created as a hands on fragrance blending experience that let people create their own custom smell while learning about Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural legacy through its unique scents.
The “City of Joy’s” trade partners’ enthusiastic reaction demonstrated their increasing interest in Saudi Arabia as a desirable holiday destination for Indian tourists looking for custom luxury and culturally rich experiences. Additionally, Saudia and Air India have announced a codeshare arrangement that would go into effect in February 2026, bringing Kolkata closer to Saudi Arabia. Through Delhi and Mumbai, visitors from the “City of Joy” and other Indian cities can easily reach locations in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
There are six different carriers that connect the two nations. With more than 313 weekly flights, Flynas, IndiGo, Air India Express, and Akasa Air are among the other airlines operating on different routes between the two nations in addition to Saudia and Air India. Saudi Arabia’s allure as a year-round travel destination is further enhanced by the two nations’ increasing interconnectedness.
World-class attractions like Six Flags Qiddiya City, a daring new addition to the global entertainment and adventure scene, opened on New Year’s Eve, further increasing Saudi Arabia’s appeal as a travel destination. With 28 rides and attractions spread across six immersive themed lands, the park boasts world-record experiences like the tallest, fastest, and longest roller coaster in the world, Falcons Flight; the tallest tilt coaster, Iron Rattler; and the tallest inverting coaster, Spitfire. The park, which was created as a family friendly lifestyle destination, has eighteen attractions that are geared towards younger visitors and families.
Additionally, through March 2026, Riyadh Season will continue to establish Saudi Arabia as a global centre for entertainment by providing top-notch live experiences, sports, and culture. SmackDown on January 30 and the historic Royal Rumble 2026 on January 31 the first time the legendary event has taken place outside of North America are the two main WWE events that take place in late January.
