Six Senses makes its UK debut with a 109-key property in London.

In the old Whiteley’s department store on Queensway, Six Senses, a member of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, has opened its first location in the United Kingdom. A key component of The Whiteley’s growing portfolio of urban buildings that give city life a new beat is Six Senses London. It comes after Six Senses Kyoto and Rome, and there will be more openings in the upcoming years.

Neil Palmer, Chief Operating Officer of Six Senses, stated, “We are creating urban sanctuaries by bringing the Six Senses core vision of reconnection to cosmopolitan cities like Rome, Kyoto, and now London. These are locations and areas that encourage visitors to feel well every day and are intended for shorter stays and contemporary living. Not only on a short vacation, but also at home. While Six Senses resorts provide immersive, outdoor experiences, our urban destinations bring the vitality of metropolitan settings to this same perspective.”

A quarter of The Whiteley mixed-use complex is occupied by Six Senses London. 109 bedrooms and suites, many with individual terraces, and 14 Six Senses-branded homes are among the spaces designed by AvroKO in partnership with EPR Architects. In addition to a spa, a 2,300-square-meter wellness center, a magnesium pool, a 20-meter indoor swimming pool, cryotherapy, flotation and recovery areas, a longevity clinic, and the Alchemy Bar, Fitness Center, and Biohack Recovery Lounge, the hotel provides British cuisine at Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar, and Café. Additionally, the hotel has the first Six Senses Place, a brand-new private member concept that promotes community, reconnection, and high-tech wellness.

After serving as regional general manager for all locations in Europe and general manager for Six Senses Douro Valley, general manager Nick Yarnell continues his career with Six Senses. “We’ve designed Six Senses London to feel effortlessly welcoming, meeting guests at their own rhythm or gently guiding them toward a different one,” he stated. “Everything we do, from the restaurant and bar to the spa and suites, is based on connection, shaped by that philosophy and the building’s long history.”

The new property’s opening demonstrates the close cooperation and dedication of IHG, CC Land Holdings Ltd., Valouran, and Gruppo Statuto.

Dickie Wong, Deputy Chairman of C C Land Holdings Ltd., joint venture investment partner in charge of The Whiteley, continued, “We are honoured to be breathing new life into this iconic building and look forward to the long-term influence it will have on the neighbourhood and surrounding community – leaving a meaningful imprint on West London while elevating Queensway onto the international stage.”

Since purchasing the Six Senses brand in 2019, IHG has carefully looked for fresh chances to increase the brand’s global reach. There are currently 27 Six Senses locations in 20 countries, with a number of significant additions scheduled to open in Portugal, Japan, and Bangkok, Thailand, in 2024 and 2025.
