Air India introduces Ahmedabad ‘Easy Connect’ services.
Air India has expanded its developing network of smooth international-to-domestic connections through Indian hubs with the inauguration of its Easy Connect route from Ahmedabad. Travellers from Gujarat now have better access to Air India’s global network via Delhi thanks to Ahmedabad’s inclusion in the program, which now includes Amritsar and Varanasi.
Passengers going from Ahmedabad to foreign locations can finish immigration and check-in procedures at Ahmedabad Airport before connecting through Delhi under the Easy Connect program. There is no need for repeated baggage pickup, re-check-in, or terminal changes during the connection because their baggage can be checked through to the ultimate destination.
Easy Connect services are available on two daily flights from Ahmedabad to Delhi. On September 2, the morning service, AI1117, leaves Ahmedabad at 8:25 am and arrives in Delhi at 10:15 am. The evening service, AI1121, starts on September 1 at 8:15 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. 26 foreign locations in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia, Asia-Pacific, Southeast Asia, and the Gulf are served by these flights.
Travellers can reach places including Shanghai, Kathmandu, Dubai, Amsterdam, Manila, Paris, Frankfurt, Vienna, London, Milan, Kuala Lumpur, Riyadh, Rome, and Zurich via the morning service. Cities including Singapore, Seoul, Colombo, Bangkok, Hanoi, Phuket, Dubai, Toronto, Sydney, and London are connected by the night time service
The expansion of hub-and-spoke operations to Ahmedabad, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu at the event, is another step toward creating a more interconnected and globally competitive aviation environment. In order to promote travel, commerce, and mobility throughout India, he emphasised the significance of expanding connectivity outside of large cities.
Ahmedabad is a major entry point for Gujarati tourists and has significant international relations, especially with populations in the US, UK, and Australia, according to P. Balaji, Group Head, Air India. He said that by facilitating check-in, immigration clearance at the point of departure, and smooth transfers through Delhi, Easy Connect will make travelling abroad more convenient.
In the upcoming weeks, Air India intends to launch Easy Connect from more Indian cities, linking more domestic “spoke” cities with its main hubs in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.
The program is a component of a larger drive to keep more foreign connecting traffic in India. Approximately 20% of the roughly 25 million long-haul travellers to and from India are connecting travellers, and about 85% of them now use international hubs. Air India’s Easy Connect initiative seeks to enhance ease for both domestic and foreign travellers while bolstering Indian airports as centers for international transit.
