IndiGo to launch direct Chennai–Réunion Island flights from April 29.

With effect from April 29, 2026, IndiGo will begin operating three-weekly direct flights between Chennai and Réunion Island. The airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft will be used to provide the service.
Chennai’s status as a major gateway to South India is further cemented with the inclusion of Réunion Island, a French overseas possession in the Indian Ocean, to IndiGo’s international network, which now reaches 46 destinations, including 13 from Chennai. Reservations can be made through the airline’s mobile app, website, and approved travel partners.
Renowned for its volcanic landscape, UNESCO-listed natural landmarks like Piton de la Fournaise, and a multicultural legacy shaped by African, European, Indian, and Asian inhabitants, Réunion Island is situated between Madagascar and Mauritius. Indian outbound tourists, especially MICE groups, honeymooners, and adventure seekers, are drawn to the location.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo stated, “We are happy to announce direct flights between Chennai and Réunion Island, in the Indian Ocean. Offering visitors a unique and immersive experience, Réunion Island is renowned for its varied landscapes, immaculate coastlines, and rich multicultural past. These flights provide tourists with exceptional convenience to a location that combines the charm of a tropical island with an authentic French experience. We are sure that consumers will enjoy taking this new and distinctive route on India’s favoured carrier.”
