Emirates Introduces U-Dream Headrest in Economy.

The U-Dream Headrest, a first-of-its-kind invention from Emirates, is intended to improve comfort for Economy Class travellers, especially on lengthy trips. The airline has strengthened its commitment to enhancing the Economy Class flying experience by starting to install the new headrests throughout its fleet

During rest and sleep, the U-Dream headrest’s multi-way adjustment improves head and neck support. The leather-padded headrest, which was created as part of Safran Seats’ Z400 Economy seat, has flexible side wings that fold inward to cradle the head and neck. Its height and tilt can be adjusted to fit a variety of body shapes.

All Emirates Airbus A350s, the majority of Airbus A380s, and Boeing 777s will have the U-Dream headrest installed, making Emirates the world’s first airline to do so. The headrest satisfies the safety requirements of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) after being independently tested and certified.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline stated, “Emirates never rests on its laurels when it comes to customer experience and we have found a way to significantly improve the comfort for Economy Class passengers, especially those travelling long-haul. If the user wishes to go to sleep, the U-Dream modifies the situation by providing complete neck support. No need for additional neck pillows. This innovation further demonstrates our dedication to our customers and solidifies our Economy Class’s superiority.”

Three Emirates A350 aircraft currently have the headrest installed, and by the end of the year, all of the airline’s A350 fleet will have it installed. Additionally, all 270 Boeing 777X aircraft that are ordered will have it factory installed. Emirates will start adding U-Dream headrests to all of its fleets of Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s in 2027.

The leather headrest, which is easy to clean and adjust, is sanitised after each trip, and cabin staff are taught to help customers use it.
