MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts opens a new retreat in Santiniketan to increase its presence.

The Santiniketan project, which is scheduled to debut in FY 2028–2029, hopes to elevate one of the most renowned cultural attractions to the top of the world tourist map.

A new retreat in Santiniketan, West Bengal, has been signed by MAYFAIR Elixir, the growth and expansion division of MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts. The Group hopes to deepen its ties to the area with Santiniketan, its fifth project in the state.

Designed as an immersive retreat, it will serve discriminating tourists, cultural aficionados, and small gatherings looking for genuine experiences and individualised attention.

Rajendra Chatterjee, CEO & Managing Director of WESTROAD Group, the property’s owner stated, “Santiniketan is more than a destination. It is a feeling that honours learning, creativity, and the legacy of Rabindranath Tagore. We sought a hospitality partner who recognises the value of maintaining this identity while providing outstanding visitor experiences. MAYFAIR Group was the obvious choice because of its experience, in-depth knowledge of local culture, and steadfast dedication to quality. We are excited to use MAYFAIR Elixir to create a historic Santiniketan experience.”

Randhir Gupta, Vice President-Commercial & Business Development, MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts stated, “Santiniketan has long been one of India’s most celebrated cultural destinations. However, the luxury hospitality sector has continued to be underserved. This acquisition is a calculated addition to our expanding portfolio that enables us to offer the MAYFAIR experience in a location of international importance. Our goal of growing into culturally rich locations with sustained tourism potential is ideally aligned with Santiniketan.”

Bjorn DeNiese, Managing Director of MAYFAIR Elixir, shared the Group’s ambition, saying, “This marks an exciting chapter in the growth journey of MAYFAIR Elixir. Our goal as we go throughout India is to provide hospitality experiences that honour each location’s own personality and cultural uniqueness rather than just adding new locations. With its remarkable history of literature, art, and education, Santiniketan epitomises the ideals that we think more and more contemporary tourists are looking for. We also see this as the beginning of a dynamic new phase for MAYFAIR Elixir, with new destinations, hospitality concepts, and strategic partnerships in the pipeline that will further strengthen our portfolio while carrying forward the trusted legacy of the MAYFAIR Group.”

The Santiniketan project, which is scheduled to debut in FY 2028–2029, hopes to elevate one of the most renowned cultural attractions to the top of the world tourist map.
