SriLankan Airlines moves its operations to Velana International Airport’s Terminal 1
With effect from December 17, 2025, SriLankan Airlines has formally moved its operations to Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport, a significant operational milestone at the Maldives’ primary international gateway. Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) held a ceremonial welcome for travellers arriving at Terminal 1 on flight UL101 and leaving the terminal on flight UL102 in honour of the relocation. In addition to top representatives from MACL and SriLankan Airlines, the Chief Guest, Mohamed Rizvi Hassen, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives, was present at the occasion. Via its hub in Colombo, SriLankan Airlines currently offers three daily flights to Malé, providing easy access to a global network of 117 destinations in 59 countries. With cutting-edge amenities intended to boost efficiency and comfort, the move to Terminal 1 is anticipated to improve the entire passenger experience.
