Poland will host the IATA WLS from February 17–19, 2026.
With the topic “Liability in a Changing World,” the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will organise the 2026 World Legal Symposium (WLS) in Warsaw, Poland, from February 17–19. LOT Polish Airlines will serve as the host airline.
In addition to their traditional insured risks, airlines also have to deal with a wide range of modern compliance issues like ESG, greenwashing, taxation, privacy, and artificial intelligence. WLS will talk about these topics against the backdrop of shifting geopolitical, trade tariff, and consumer protection environments.
Divergent national policies are putting increasing pressure on internationally accepted airline liability rules, which could jeopardise the consistent implementation of international liability treaties and their benefits for connectivity. IATA’s Corporate Secretary and Acting General Counsel, Leslie MacIntosh, stated that this year’s WLS will focus on the difficulties this presents for airlines, who must deal with these discrepancies to enable international operations.
