Japan Airlines & Marriott Bonvoy Launch Loyalty Partnership.

Japan Airlines’ (JAL) Mileage Bank (JMB) and Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott International’s travel program, have established a strategic loyalty agreement that offers mutual advantages for both hotel stays and air travel.
Members may currently convert Marriott Bonvoy points into JAL miles and vice versa thanks to the partnership, which strengthens the already-existing tie between the two programs. Marriott Bonvoy’s first full loyalty agreement with a Japanese airline and JAL’s first strategic engagement with a multinational hotel firm are made possible by the upgraded alliance, which offers reciprocal elite status recognition, status matching, and new member incentives.
Members who are enrolled in both programs will be able to take use of the benefits of each loyalty program concurrently as a result of the agreement, which will allow them to gain higher-tier status and obtain improved travel privileges for both flights and hotel stays.
For the first time, even if they don’t take a flight, Marriott Bonvoy members who link their accounts with JAL Mileage Bank will automatically collect FLY ON Points. Members of JAL Mileage Bank will be granted Marriott Bonvoy elite status depending on their FLY ON membership tier, and the quantity of FLY ON Points provided will be determined by their Marriott Bonvoy elite status.
Sapphire and higher-tier members will enjoy automatic status matching and expedited paths to higher Marriott Bonvoy levels, while Basic JAL Mileage Bank and Crystal members can obtain Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status upon fulfilling stay requirements.
Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite members are also eligible for status matching to JAL Crystal level or higher based on collected FLY ON Points, and Marriott Bonvoy members from Member through Ambassador Elite will get between 2,000 and 40,000 FLY ON Points yearly.
John Toomey, Chief Commercial Officer, Marriott International, Asia Pacific excluding China stated, “Our enhanced alliance with JAL is an exciting milestone that brings together two iconic travel brands to create more rewarding journeys for our members. By working with top businesses in important markets as part of Marriott’s hyperlocal strategy, we are giving members more chances to enjoy the finest travel experiences, faster rewards, and increased recognition. Members will benefit from more smooth and enjoyable travel experiences that encourage the exploration of new locations, produce enduring memories, and fulfil journeys to the fullest by further integrating Marriott Bonvoy with Japan Airlines’ loyalty ecosystem. Together, we are creating new travel opportunities and raising the bar for loyalty experiences in Japan.”
Shingo Nishida, Executive Officer and Senior Vice President, Mileage and Lifestyle Business Division, Japan Airlines stated, “This partnership represents an exciting step forward in how we reward and engage our most valued customers. By collaborating with Marriott Bonvoy, we are expanding JAL’s advantages outside of the air and giving our members new chances to have better travel experiences and advance through our membership tiers more swiftly.”
