India is a major source market for Sharjah’s robust tourism growth in 2025

Building on steady annual development, Sharjah received over 172,000 Indian tourists in 2024, a number that set the groundwork for the notable expansion in 2025.  Strong worldwide demand and a strategic emphasis on the industry helped Sharjah achieve a phenomenal 38% growth in tourist performance in 2025, solidifying its place on the world tourism map. India is still one of Sharjah’s most significant source markets; it is ranked in the top five source markets in the emirate and has been crucial to this growth.

Luxury and adventure travel from India has continued to increase in Sharjah in 2025, especially from major Indian cities like Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. This trend has significantly contributed to the emirate’s 38% growth, as more affluent families and high-net-worth individuals seek for upscale, culturally engaging experiences that complement Sharjah’s genuine tourism offerings.  According to Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), “India is not only a strong volume market for Sharjah today but one that delivers high value and deeper engagement.” “This has been a major factor in our impressive 2025 performance and establishes India as a strategic growth market for the years to come.”

Strategic investments in infrastructure, accessibility, and sustainability have helped Sharjah’s tourism industry flourish in 2025, thereby contributing to the emirate’s 38% growth. Connectivity throughout Sharjah has been greatly enhanced by important projects including the Kalba Road expansion and improvements to important transportation corridors.  Sharjah is strengthening its standing as a unique travel destination on the international tourism scene by implementing a balanced strategy that incorporates environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, and contemporary infrastructure.  Al Midfa went on to say, “Sharjah is well on its way to becoming a leading global tourism destination.” Important foundations of our long-term vision include our investments in infrastructure, dedication to sustainability, and emphasis on luxury and cultural tourism. Whether it is luxury travel, heritage exploration, or outdoor excursions, we want to have something to offer every kind of traveler.  “Sharjah is well positioned to meet those expectations as India’s travel market continues to evolve,” Al Midfa said in closing. “We are eager to strengthen our ties with Indian tourists and invite them to explore Sharjah, where innovation, tradition, and authenticity coexist harmoniously.”
