With the reintroduction of direct flights to Fukuoka, Japan, and the introduction of new services to Shenzhen and Changsha, China, Malaysia Airlines is growing its presence in East Asia. These additions, which will take place between July and September 2026, strengthen the airline’s commitment to offering more travel flexibility throughout the area and expand its China network to nine important gateways.

As part of this growth, the airline will resume operations to Fukuoka (FUK) in Japan, where it last flew in September 2006, and launch new services between Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen (SZX) and Changsha (CSX) in China. Beijing (PKX), Shanghai (PVG), Guangzhou (CAN), Xiamen (XMN), Hong Kong (HKG), Taipei (TPE), and Chengdu Tianfu (TFU) are just a few of the nine critical locations in China where Malaysia Airlines now has a strong presence. Today marks the start of ticket sales for the new flights, which will help meet the increasing demand for travel and improve connection between Malaysia and these rapidly developing regional cities.

Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) stated , “This expansion reflects our strategic focus on scaling our presence in key growth markets across East Asia while cementing Kuala Lumpur’s position as a key strategic gateway. With strong demand in both the commercial and leisure sectors, Shenzhen and Changsha are ideal for our network approach. The trip back to Fukuoka strengthens our network even further. We are pleased to provide travellers with a smooth nonstop experience that does away with the necessity for transit since we are the only airline running direct flights on this route. These advancements show our continued dedication to streamlining our network and providing our clients with a more comprehensive travel experience.”

In addition to expanding into East Asia, Malaysia Airlines is boosting flight frequencies on important routes, such as Brisbane, Australia; Manila, Philippines; and Colombo, Nepal, in order to fulfil growing demand and promote expanding commercial and tourism ties. In order to accommodate travellers impacted by recent disruptions from Middle Eastern carriers, the airline will also run ad hoc flights from Kuala Lumpur to London on April 18 and 22, 2026.
