Japan’s Nankai Electric Railway to launch the “GRAN Tenku” sightseeing train on April 24, 2026.
On Friday, April 24, 2026, Nankai Electric Railway Co. Ltd. will start running its new sightseeing train, “GRAN Tenku.” Prior to the formal debut, an unveiling event has been planned for Sunday, March 29. More information will be released when it is ready.
The present ‘Tenku’ sightseeing train, which travels between Hashimoto and Gokurakubashi, will be replaced by the new train, which will run on the Koya Line between Namba Station in Osaka and Gokurakubashi Station.
The about 90-minute trip is intended to provide a sophisticated and engrossing travel experience by fusing expansive vistas of the countryside with a calm onboard environment and attentive service. Along the way to Mount Koya, travellers can savour seasonal breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea menus while admiring beautiful scenery.
Two round-trips will be operated daily by GRAN Tenku. The scheduled departure times are:
Between 9:00 AM and 12:45 PM, from Namba Station
10:46 AM (or 10:48 AM on weekends and holidays) and 2:58 PM from Gokurakubashi Station
Namba, Shin-Imamiya, Tengachaya, Sakaihigashi, Kongo, Kawachinagano, Rinkan-Denen-Toshi, Hashimoto, Kudoyama, and Gokurakubashi are the stations where the train will stop.
According to Nankai Railway, the new service intends to improve tourism access to the ancient Mount Koya region while offering passengers a serene and sophisticated travel experience.
