Hyatt expands its Italy portfolio with three new properties in Sicily and Rome.

With the planned launch of three new hotels that will add 428 rooms and suites throughout the nation, Hyatt Hotels Corporation has underlined its commitment to growing its footprint in Italy. The World Travel & Tourism Council predicts that foreign visitor spending would reach €78 billion by 2035, which coincides with Italy’s continued growth as one of Europe’s top tourism sectors.

In Europe, Hyatt presently runs 170 hotels under 19 different brands, including six hotels under five different brands in Milan, Venice, Rome, Florence, and Sardinia, Italy. The company intends to open more than 40 new hotels throughout Europe in the upcoming years, having tripled its room inventory in Italy since 2019.

In addition to strengthening Hyatt’s position in the upper-upscale, lifestyle, and luxury markets, the new additions will broaden the company’s conversion strategy in popular Italian locations. Additionally, the projects will expand the Park Hyatt brand beyond Milan to Sicily and bring the Hyatt Regency and Thompson Hotels brands to Italy for the first time.

Expected to open by the end of the third quarter of 2026, the Hyatt Regency Rome Central will serve both business and leisure visitors and be situated close to Rome’s Termini train station. The 238-room hotel will have meeting spaces, a rooftop pool, a pool bar and an Asian-inspired restaurant called Niroma. The Hyatt Regency brand made its Italian premiere at this resort.

Thompson Rome, which is also slated to debut in the fourth quarter of 2026, will launch Hyatt’s lifestyle brand in Italy. The 69-room hotel, which is housed in a renovated heritage building close to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Piazza Venezia, will include three dining options, including a rooftop cocktail lounge and an Italian Riviera-style restaurant on the sixth floor.

Park Hyatt Taormina is anticipated to open in Sicily in 2028, further bolstering Hyatt’s luxury portfolio. The 121-suite hotel, which will be the second Park Hyatt hotel in Italy after Milan, will have a luxurious spa, locally inspired dining options, and private terraces with views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea.

Nuno Galvao Pinto, Vice President Development, Europe, Africa, and Middle East (EAME) stated, “Italy is an important growth market for Hyatt because it combines strong travel demand with a large base of independent hotels. Hyatt provides worldwide distribution, booking channels, and access to over 66 million World of Hyatt members for owners thinking about brand affiliation or conversion, generating strong network effects as our footprint in Italy keeps expanding.”

“We expect to offer travellers more Hyatt-branded options in Rome and Sicily with the anticipated openings of Hyatt Regency Rome Central and Thompson Rome this summer and the planned opening of Park Hyatt Taormina in 2028,” he continued.
