Air India Adds 787-9 on Toronto Routes.

With the introduction of a new nonstop Mumbai-Toronto service and the deployment of its brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Delhi-Toronto route, Air India has increased its operations in Canada for the Winter 2026–2027 schedule. This is the first time the airline has brought its newest cabin items to Canada.
According to the airline, the expansion will boost premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71% and enhance overall capacity between India and Canada by 4,400 seats per month.
From October 25, 2026, to March 26, 2027, the new seasonal Mumbai-Toronto route will run three times a week, making Air India the only airline to provide nonstop flights between the two cities. Upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with eight First Class suites, 40 Business Class flat beds, and 280 Economy Class seats as well as onboard Wi-Fi will fly the route.
Through Air India’s hubs in Mumbai and Delhi, passengers going from Mumbai to Toronto would also have easy access to destinations such as Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana, and Vadodara.
Air India has also launched its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Delhi-Toronto route as part of the winter schedule. Seven of the airline’s ten weekly flights from Delhi to Toronto will be flown by the new aircraft, while the other three weekly routes will initially continue to run with modified Boeing 777-300ER aircraft before switching to the Boeing 787-9 starting in January 2027 as more aircraft enter the fleet.
All Air India flights to and from Toronto will have either brand-new or greatly improved cabin interiors starting in January 2027, ensuring a uniform onboard experience throughout the market.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India stated, “Canada is one of Air India’s most important international markets, with deep people-to-people connections driving strong demand for travel, particularly during the festive and holiday season. At a time when many people are going to reunite with family and friends, the introduction of our seasonal Mumbai-Toronto service this winter will give travellers more options and convenience. In order to give ourselves the best chance in one of the most cutthroat long-haul industries in the world, we are also gradually bringing our newest aircraft and onboard products to North America. When taken as a whole, these programs represent a significant advancement in our quest to establish Air India as a premier airline and the go-to entry point between India and the rest of the globe.”
Air India will run 20 weekly flights between India and Canada during the Winter 2026–2027 season. There will be ten weekly flights from Delhi to Toronto, three weekly flights from Mumbai to Toronto, and seven weekly flights from Delhi to Vancouver.
