Etihad to establish Abu Dhabi-Gothenburg seasonal service.

The service will run four times a week from December 17, 2026, until March 21, 2027.

Etihad Airways announced a four-times-a-week seasonal service between Abu Dhabi and Gothenburg starting December 17, 2026, and ending March 21, 2027.

Using Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub, the new route will connect Sweden’s west coast directly to Abu Dhabi and offer some of the fastest one-stop itineraries to India and Asia’s most desirable locations.

Onwards destinations from Gothenburg include Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Singapore, Hanoi, Bali, Shanghai, Taipei, Bengaluru, and Colombo. Gothenburg is Etihad’s sixteenth new destination in 2026, and the Airbus A321LR will fly there. The latest Etihad plane has two First Suites, 14 Business seats, and 144 Economy seats.

Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves said: “The A321LR makes a route like this possible, bringing our full three-cabin product to Gothenburg. Scandinavians are proud of this industrial and scientific city with an archipelago. The region now has its first direct aviation connectivity to Asia and some of the fastest links to India and Asia via Abu Dhabi. Travellers can also experience Abu Dhabi before continuing their journey. “

Swedavia Airports CEO Mats Johannesson said, “This is the first direct connection between Gothenburg and the UAE. West Swedish companies do business in Asia, and many of our travellers have family and friends there. The new service will improve regional connection, especially to the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia. This investment shows confidence in West Sweden and the Swedish aviation market.”
