Jewar’s Noida International Airport to become Narendra Modi International Airport.

The proposal to rename Noida International Airport near Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar as “Narendra Modi International Airport” has been approved by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, which is led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Along with a Cabinet resolution commemorating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of continuous service as head of state, the decision was made public on Friday at a news conference in Lucknow.

“The Uttar Pradesh Council of Ministers is grateful to the Prime Minister for giving the state the Noida International Airport (Jewar); this is set to become Uttar Pradesh’s largest airport and, in the future, the country’s largest aviation hub,” Adityanath said in announcing the decision. As a result, a proposal to rename the Noida International Airport “Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar” was also approved by the Council of Ministers.

According to the Chief Minister, the airport will be crucial in boosting Uttar Pradesh’s aviation connections and bolstering the state’s business, tourism, and economy.

Adityanath described the state’s infrastructure development during the press conference, emphasising investments in metro networks, highways, motorways, and regional fast transit.

He claimed that 42 national highway improvements totalling about 2,483 km in Uttar Pradesh had cost about ₹60,000 crore. Additionally, he mentioned the Delhi-Meerut Motorway, Kanpur-Lucknow Motorway, and Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Motorway as significant connectivity initiatives.

He highlighted the growth of public transport by mentioning the metro networks in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Noida-Greater Noida, as well as the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat regional rapid transit system, which was built at a cost over 30,000 crore.

The Chief Minister declared, “Jewar International Airport is set to become the new hub of this changing connectivity landscape.”

Referencing the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, the multimodal inland port terminal in Varanasi, and the state’s industrial development initiatives, he also emphasised Uttar Pradesh’s growth as a logistics and industrial hub.

Adityanath also talked about the cultural and tourism activities in Uttar Pradesh, including as the Buddhist Circuit, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the renovation of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and other historical development projects.

In addition to programs to support cultural heritage, handicrafts, and local tourism, he mentioned the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, which the state government claims drew over 66 crore worshippers.

The Chief Minister also emphasised the international acknowledgement of the Buddhist cultural sites connected to Sarnath, the music of Varanasi, and the culinary customs of Lucknow.

In a separate resolution, the Cabinet acknowledged that Modi had served as the head of state continuously for 25 years, starting with his time as Gujarat’s chief minister, on October 7.

“This is a glorious chapter in Indian democratic history,” declared Adityanath. “Service, Dedication, and Nation First” have been the guiding principles of this 25-year journey.

Additionally, he reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to infrastructure development and economic growth while acknowledging the Prime Minister’s affiliation with Uttar Pradesh as the elected Member of Parliament from Varanasi.
