Tata Motors and AISATS Partner to Deploy Electric Passenger Coaches.

Lucknow will receive the first two EV passenger coaches; Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram will receive a 21-vehicle order.

In an important step toward sustainable, low-emission airport operations throughout India, Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) announced the incorporation of a new fleet of electric airport passenger coaches from Tata Motors. The Chief Minister and the Chairman of the Tata Group are present when the first two electric coaches are given to AISATS at the Tata Motors factory in Lucknow.

AISATS has ordered 21 electric airport passenger coaches from Tata Motors as part of this strategic fleet expansion. These vehicles will be gradually installed across its operations in Delhi (DEL), Bengaluru (BLR), Hyderabad (HYD), and Thiruvananthapuram (TRV). The first two cars that were delivered in Lucknow will be used in New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. There are currently 37 electric coaches in the company’s fleet spread throughout its stations. The final week of April will see the handover of the extra eight vehicles, and the remaining units will be delivered gradually over the ensuing months.

Speaking at the event, AISATS CEO Ramanathan Rajamani stated: “These new electric airport passenger coaches from Tata Motors will enable cleaner, quieter and more efficient passenger movement, starting with Delhi and soon extending to our other stations. We are honoured that this voyage, which highlights the significance of green mobility for India’s aviation ecosystem, is being launched at the Lucknow facility in the august presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekharan.”

The partnership between AISATS and Tata Motors combines Tata Motors’ leadership in electric commercial vehicles and e-bus platforms with AISATS’ vast ground handling and airport services capabilities across major Indian airports. At major hubs like Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Ranchi, Raipur, and Kochi, AISATS presently offers ground handling services. More than 3,000 electric buses have already been installed by Tata Motors in several Indian towns, greatly lowering pollution and assisting the nation’s shift to clean mobility.

In addition to providing less noise, zero tailpipe emissions, and increased operational efficiency for airport operators, the new electric airport passenger buses are intended to improve passenger comfort, safety, and accessibility. In order to maximise uptime and sustainability benefits, AISATS will collaborate closely with airport operators and Tata Motors to guarantee that the required charging infrastructure, maintenance support, and operating procedures are in place.
