Vietnam Airlines Expands Beyond Leisure in India.

Vietnam Airlines is strengthening its presence in India with 21 weekly services connecting four Indian gateways, as demand for travel between India and Vietnam continues to grow. With Indian visitor arrivals to Vietnam expected to surpass one million this year, the airline is focusing on expanding connectivity, deepening trade partnerships and tapping into emerging travel segments.
Nguyen Trung Hieu, Country Manager, India, Vietnam Airlines, said the country has become one of the carrier’s most strategic and fastest-growing international markets, supported by sustained passenger demand and network expansion.
India Emerges as a Key Growth Market
Since launching operations in India, Vietnam Airlines has expanded from three to four weekly flights to 21 weekly services connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Beyond leisure travel, demand from business travellers, MICE groups, premium holidaymakers and destination wedding planners is creating new opportunities for the airline.
According to Hieu, the carrier’s two Vietnamese hubs also provide Indian travellers with convenient connections to destinations across Vietnam and onward access to Asia and other international markets.
Strengthening Trade Partnerships
Vietnam Airlines is working closely with Aeroprime to strengthen its distribution network, market development initiatives and engagement with travel industry stakeholders.
The partnership has supported the airline’s expansion into additional Indian gateways, including Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Both companies are engaging travel agents, tour operators, MICE specialists, online travel agencies and wedding planners to develop new business opportunities.
The collaboration also focuses on brand building, destination promotion and improving product knowledge among trade partners, helping travel professionals create customised Vietnam itineraries for different traveller segments.
Enhancing Connectivity and Passenger Experience
Vietnam Airlines continues to assess opportunities to strengthen its India network, with future expansion decisions guided by market demand. Specific additional routes or capacity changes have not yet been finalised.
The carrier is adapting its offering to Indian travellers through specially curated Indian meal options, convenient flight schedules and modern wide-body aircraft on key India routes. Vietnamese hospitality, reliable operations and premium onboard experiences remain central to its customer proposition.
Through marketing initiatives and trade partnerships, the airline is highlighting Vietnam’s diverse tourism offerings and the connectivity available through Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Diversifying Beyond Leisure Travel
While leisure remains the airline’s largest traffic contributor, premium holidays, corporate travel, MICE and destination weddings are emerging as important growth segments.
Vietnam Airlines aims to achieve sustainable growth by strengthening connectivity, expanding travel trade relationships and increasing awareness of its services among Indian travellers. With a broader network and a more diversified customer base, the carrier is positioning itself to capitalise on rising demand and reinforce its role in connecting India with Vietnam and destinations across Asia.
