Ethiopian Airlines and Marriott Bonvoy collaborate.

Ethiopian Airlines and Marriott Bonvoy, the travel program of Marriott International, formed a cooperation with the goal of providing travellers with additional chances to accrue and use points and miles during both hotel stays and flights.

ShebaMiles can be converted into Marriott Bonvoy points for hotel stays, upgrades, and other benefits, and Marriott Bonvoy points can be converted to ShebaMiles to book flights for eligible members of Ethiopian Airlines’ loyalty program. When staying at Marriott Bonvoy-participating locations, members have the option of earning ShebaMiles or Marriott Bonvoy points.

This relationship, which links Ethiopian Airlines’ network of more than 145 locations with Marriott Bonvoy’s global inventory of more than 30 hotel brands and 10,000 destinations globally, is reportedly a significant partnership for Marriott Bonvoy with an African airline.

According to Andrew Watson, Chief Commercial Officer for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Marriott International, “Africa is one of the world’s fastest growing regions for travel, and this partnership reflects our continued commitment to deliver the most rewarding travel experiences for our members. Marriott Bonvoy members will have the freedom to enjoy the benefits of loyalty in ways that are most meaningful to them thanks to our partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, whether it’s earning miles during their stays or using points to get the miles they need for flights.”

Rahel Assefa, Vice President of Marketing for Ethiopian Airlines Group said, “The partnership we have established with Marriott Bonvoy is part of our ongoing efforts to advance our vision of enhancing the ShebaMiles member travel experience while diversifying our service offerings. With access to Marriott Bonvoy’s global network of hotels across numerous touchpoints and destinations in Africa and around the world, our ShebaMiles members will have more possibilities to accrue and redeem their miles thanks to this new relationship. Ethiopian Airlines is still dedicated to forming strategic alliances with different stakeholders in order to improve our service offerings and consistently surpass the expectations of our clients.”
