Digi Yatra Crosses 10 Crore Uses, with 27 More Airports Planned.

By the end of 2027, 11 additional regional languages will be added, and by the following year, 27 additional airports will be enabled. Digi Yatra will be completely enabled for greenfield projects like Bhogapuram, Jewar, and Navi Mumbai.

With over 2.4 crore downloads on iOS and Android, the Digi Yatra app has facilitated over 10 crore smooth travels through 38 airports. By substituting manual document verification, the platform has decreased typical airport entry processing times from 15 seconds to 5 seconds per passenger. Terminal infrastructure has been greatly improved, terminal congestion has decreased, and human processing overheads have been eliminated thanks to this high throughput.

Additionally, the program promotes environmental sustainability by saving thousands of pages of paper every day at participating airports by doing away with paper boarding cards.

“Digi Yatra is currently active at 38 airports, and by next year, 27 more airports will be enabled,” said Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister for Civil Aviation. I’m also happy to announce that Navi Mumbai, Jewar, and Bhogapuram, the three main greenfield airport projects that will open this year, will all be completely Digi Yatra-enabled.

Minister Naidu remarked, “The scale of Digi Yatra’s adoption comes at a critical juncture,” as he considered the milestone. Over the past three years, daily domestic passenger traffic has frequently surpassed the 5-lakh threshold, having averaged less than 2 lakh passengers in 2014. Annual passenger flow across Indian airports is expected to surpass 50 crores by 2030 and quadruple to approximately 100 crores by 2040, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aim to make air travel more accessible and easy. We are implementing several digital technologies, such as Digi Yatra, Self-Baggage Drop Facility, Augmentation of Air Traffic Control Automation Systems, AirSewa site for grievance redressal, and AI-powered digital twins to improve airport operations, in order to efficiently handle this exponential development.

The Minister said, “We are making the platform significantly more inclusive, highlighting his ambition for Ease of Flying. Eleven languages are presently supported by Digi Yatra, and we intend to add eleven more regional languages by the end of the year. The Prime Minister’s goal of democratising aviation and making air travel genuinely accessible to the average person is directly advanced by this.”
