Air India introduces new line-fit Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on Mumbai–Frankfurt flights.

With the launch of its recently arrived, first line-fit (made-for-Air India) Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with new cabin furnishings on February 1, 2026, Air India has announced a major improvement to its Mumbai Frankfurt route.

Currently, the airline offers five weekly flights between Frankfurt and Mumbai, improving connectivity between Germany and India’s financial centres. All of Air India’s flights to Germany, including those between Delhi and Frankfurt, are now operated by brand new or renovated aircraft thanks to the installation of the upgraded Boeing 787-9 on this route. These improvements are part of Air India’s continuous fleet transformation, which will see more widebody deliveries and retrofits in 2026, giving a sizable percentage of the long-haul fleet updated interiors.

In order to provide passengers with even more value, Air India and Lufthansa have an active codeshare arrangement that allows Air India customers to travel seamlessly beyond Frankfurt to 29 destinations in Europe and a few locations in North America and South America.

Travellers from Frankfurt and other European locations can make easy one stop connections via Delhi or Mumbai to a number of well-known locations in the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia thanks to Air India’s streamlined flight schedules to Europe, and vice versa. Business and leisure travellers can more easily explore lively Asian centres and beyond thanks to this improved connection, which makes it possible to travel to places like Bangkok, Bali, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Phuket, and Singapore.
