The 2nd BRICS 2026 TWG meeting emphasises travel and skill development.
Under the topic “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, the 2nd TWG Meeting discussed BRICS tourist cooperation.
On August 19, 2026, India chaired the 2nd BRICS 2026 Tourism Working Group (TWG) Meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan, hosted by the Ministry of Tourism. Bhuvnesh Kumar, Secretary, Indian Ministry of Tourism, presided the meeting.
Under the topic “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, the 2nd TWG Meeting discussed BRICS tourist cooperation. The Working Group acknowledged tourism as a key source of economic growth, employment, sustainable development, and people-to-people exchanges in a changing global tourist landscape driven by technology, visitor expectations, and sustainability.
The four thematic priorities identified under India’s Chairship were discussed, including responsible use of emerging technologies, sustainable and community-centered tourism, human capital development, tourism exchanges, and strengthened connectivity.
The meeting followed the 1st BRICS 2026 Tourism Working Group Meeting, held virtually on May 25, 2026, and brought together BRICS Member States to advance India’s thematic priorities of Artificial Intelligence and Tourism, Sustainability and Responsible Tourism, Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building, and Tourism Exchanges and Seamless Travel Facilitation.
Bhuvnesh Kumar told the meeting that the inaugural Tourism Working Group Meeting and subsequent talks had advanced India’s BRICS Tourism Track. He noted that India’s Chairship has promoted sustainability, skilling, seamless travel, and smart tourism.
He said that the Working Group’s findings would inform the August 21 BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting.
On August 20, 2026, the BRICS delegates will visit Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and Amer Palace in Jaipur to learn about Rajasthan’s cultural and architectural history.
