Responsible Tourism Mission launches Thirunelli and Chekadi Trails in Kerala.

The Thirunelli and Chekadi trails in Wayanad were introduced as part of the “Life Experience Trails Kerala” project, which is being carried out by the Kerala Responsible Tourism Mission Society of Kerala Tourism under the State Government’s 100-day action program.
The paths were officially opened by Tourism Minister PC Vishnunadh, who also announced the government’s “Brand Wayanad” initiative. According to Vishnunadh, the project’s goal is to provide tourists a firsthand look at Wayanad’s distinctive culture and rural way of life. According to him, the project seeks to foster a culture of responsible tourism without interfering with Wayanad residents’ distinctive way of life.
Along with tribal culture, an awareness of the forest, and a visit to the Thirunelli Temple, the Wayanad-Thirunelli Trail offers travellers a blend of nature and culture. The trail continues to Nettara hamlet, which is renowned for its picturesque rural splendour, after stopping at the Thirunelli Temple. The trip then goes to a traditional Wayanad home with a thatched roof that is about 150 years old. After visiting a coffee farm and Unniyettan’s shop to purchase and sample Unniyappam, the walk leads back to Kalpetta.
Along with the scent and customs of Wayanad coffee, the Chekadi route provides a chance to witness village life amidst verdant paddy fields. Visitors will be able to witness every step of the coffee production process, including growing, harvesting, drying, grinding, and powdering.
The new “Life Experience Trails” package, according to Kerala RT Mission CEO K. Rupesh Kumar, was introduced with an emphasis on responsible tourism and the goal of allowing tourists to directly experience the lives and livelihoods of local communities and traditional art forms through sustainable tourism activities. This will integrate food diversity, creative forms, and traditional occupational sectors while bringing together the many opportunities of Wayanad’s rural lifestyle.
