The first specially made Boeing aircraft is delivered to Air India Express.
The first of 140 specially equipped Boeing aircraft to join the airline’s quickly growing fleet is the 51st Boeing 737-8. At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, Air India Express welcomed its 51st B737-8, its first line-fit aircraft. The aircraft, which Boeing configured and constructed to meet Air India Express criteria, has a cabin that is intended to improve comfort, space, and convenience. This is Air India Express’s 51st Boeing 737-8 since joining the Tata group, solidifying its standing as the biggest Boeing operator in the nation.
Currently, the airline has more than 100 aircraft in service. To highlight the scope and speed of its growth, the airline also introduced four A321neos, four A320neos, and three A320ceos in 2025. Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, made the following statement regarding the induction of the airline’s first line-fit aircraft: “We are proud to welcome our 51st Boeing B737-8, the first of the fully customised line-fit aircraft, marking a significant step in Air India Express’ fleet modernisation journey.Modern B737-8s and A320/321Neo aircraft, which provide higher fuel efficiency and superior onboard comfort, now make up two-thirds of the airline fleet. Due to the swift expansion of our fleet, we have added 12 destinations in 2025 alone, bringing our network to 60 destinations.”
With a network footprint covering India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asia, Air India Express is becoming a powerful New India connection as the country’s aviation industry develops. In order to provide uniformity throughout the fleet, the airline has also started a program to retrofit new seats on its current Boeing 737-8 aircraft. Two of the 50 Boeing 737-8 aircraft that will be modified to a regular 189-seat layout have already finished the conversion as part of this effort.
