IndiGo to launch daily nonstop Shanghai–Kolkata flights from March 29.

With effect from March 29, 2026, IndiGo has announced daily direct flights between Shanghai and Kolkata. IndiGo’s A320 planes will be used to fly the new route. This news, which comes after IndiGo’s services to Guangzhou were recently resumed, demonstrates the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and facilitating more convenient travel between China and India.
Consumers can use the IndiGo mobile app, official website, www.goIndiGo.in, or approved travel partners to plan and book their travel.
Shanghai is a crucial component of the 6E network since it is China’s leading international financial hub and a significant center for innovation. Direct air connectivity would further boost trade flows between the two nations as West Bengal’s exports to China continue to expand in FY25–26, especially leather goods, marine products, and speciality textiles.
Vinay Malhotra, Global Head of Sales at IndiGo stated, “We are happy to announce the launch of our new daily, direct connectivity between Kolkata and Shanghai, China, in addition to our flights to Guangzhou. This development demonstrates our dedication to linking India with important international locations. The largest city in the nation, Shanghai serves as a global financial center and is well-known for its stunning contemporary skyline that contrasts with its historic buildings. This expansion of our network is anticipated to increase tourism and foster more cultural interchange between the two countries, as well as play a significant role in boosting bilateral trade.”
