Global Sustainable Tourism Conference 2026 to Take Place in Phuket in April.

Phuket is prepared to host the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference 2026 from April 21 to 24, 2026, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and its strategic partners. This confirms Thailand’s position as a destination for sustainable tourism and a hub for international conferences.

“Hosting GSTC 2026 marks an important milestone to elevate standards, strengthen knowledge exchange, and reaffirm Thailand’s commitment to responsible tourism that benefits both people and the environment. This is in line with TAT’s objective to establish the Kingdom as a premier sustainable travel destination by generating long-term value. We are developing an environment where growth and sustainability go hand in hand through cross-sector cooperation, international standards, and responsible tourism management,” stated Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT.

Teeraphong Chuaychoo, the vice governor of Phuket Province, and Randy Durband, the chief executive officer of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), join Thapanee in showcasing Thailand’s preparedness. This demonstrates the close cooperation between TAT, GSTC, Phuket Province, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), and the Sustainable Tourism Development Foundation (STDF).

“It is an honour to host GSTC 2026 on behalf of Phuket Province, reflecting Phuket’s readiness as an international conference destination. In order to safeguard local populations’ well-being while guaranteeing safety, convenience, and good environmental management requirements, extensive preparations have been made. We have no doubt that the conference will benefit Phuket and Thailand in the long run,” Teeraphong stated.

In order to prepare, Phuket Province has put in place a coordinated operational plan that covers venue management, visitor safety, and support services and involves tourism police, provincial administration, and public health agencies. Phuket’s standing as a top travel destination is further strengthened by ongoing initiatives in garbage management, public space upkeep, and sustainable urban management.

“We are thrilled to gather in Phuket for GSTC2026, in a destination that holds a prominent place on the global tourism map,” stated Randy Durband. Phuket offers a crucial setting for bringing together global tourism leaders and stakeholders to exchange ideas and promote more sustainable practices in the industry.

The Royal Phuket City Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town, and Kata Thani Beach Resort and Spa are among the important locations where the conference will take place. Approximately 600 people from over 30 nations, including academics, policymakers, tourism executives, and sustainability specialists, are anticipated to attend.

The curriculum will address topics like carbon reduction, biodiversity conservation, and community-based development while concentrating on issues like sustainable hospitality, resilient cities and communities, and visitor management. The event will adhere to responsible event management techniques, such as using less paper, using eco-friendly products, and taking part in community-benefiting projects.

Thailand’s plan to establish itself as a global leader in sustainable tourism is anticipated to be further supported by hosting GSTC 2026, which is anticipated to create economic activity, bolster industry capacities, and broaden international partnerships.
