CGH Earth expands in the Eastern Himalayas with Kurseong and Kalimpong acquisitions
The hospitality group is growing into the Eastern Himalayas for the first time outside Southern India. After opening The Singell Tea Estate in Kurseong, West Bengal, the group is planning a property in Kalimpong.
The expansion continues CGH Earth‘s focus on place-led hospitality based on destinations’ nature, culture, and communities.

CGH Earth’s first endeavour in Kurseong is The Singell Tea Estate in the mountains. Located on the 1871 Singell Tea Estate, the hotel offers a living tea estate experience based around tea, mountain life, and the Eastern Himalayas.

The estate has 11 rooms in a restored heritage cottage and a modern wing, blending colonial charm with modern amenities.
Birdwatchers can see Himalayan rufous-necked hornbills, broadbills, warblers, and cuckoos on the estate.
Singell uses materials from the estate, village bari gardens, and local haat bazaars to recreate Darjeeling cuisine.
Foraging, fermentation, smoking, and slow cooking are used to prepare seasonal and indigenous ingredients such gundruk, kinema, Himalayan nettles, silam, and buckwheat. The food is traditional bungalow food based on local ingredients and traditions.
Building on The Singell Tea Estate, CGH Earth is launching its next Kalimpong property.
Kalimpong, known for its colonial legacy, cultural traditions, monasteries, and Himalayan landscapes, will host another destination-led hospitality experience in line with CGH Earth’s ethical and immersive travel philosophy.
