IHG adds four more hotels to its portfolio in Italy.

Four new properties in Italy have been signed by IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), which is a major step forward for the company’s growth strategy in Southern Europe. IHG’s position in one of the most resilient hospitality markets in the region is strengthened by this expansion, which brings its Italian portfolio to over 50 properties across its open and development pipeline.

The new dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites Milan NoLo a first for the Staybridge Suites brand and the dual-branded hotel for IHG in Italy as well as Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello and Garner Hotel Turin Porta Nuova are among the signings, which span important urban and recreational locations. The transactions collectively highlight IHG’s ongoing growth across a variety of brands and market niches, as well as its emphasis on conversion prospects and alliances with seasoned Italian owners and operators.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts stated, “Reaching this milestone of over 50 open and pipeline hotels reflects the incredible momentum we have in Italy and the growing confidence owners have in our brands and enterprise. Italy is one of the most vibrant hospitality industries in Europe, and we see a lot of room to grow throughout important cities and top-notch vacation spots. We are quite pleased with the relationships we have established with seasoned Italian owners and operators, and we are only getting started.”

Located in Milan’s rapidly expanding NoLo sector, the dual-branded Crowne Plaza and Staybridge Suites hotel will further solidify its position in Italy’s main business and tourism hub. The project entails rebranding and converting an existing hotel into a mixed upper-upscale and extended-stay offering that includes 96 Staybridge Suites apartments and 167 Crowne Plaza rooms. Both hotels are expected to debut in January 2027.

Owned by Reinvest, the hotels strengthen IHG’s Crowne Plaza position in Milan while introducing the Staybridge Suites brand. With eight meeting rooms totalling 1,000 square meters, a pool, fitness centers, and many restaurants and bars, the dual-brand hotel will serve a variety of business, pleasure, and longer-term visitors. The hotel wants to accommodate both leisure and business guests.

IHG has signed Hotel Indigo Apulia Alberobello, which is the group’s first Hotel Indigo in the Apulia region and a major step in bolstering its Luxury & Lifestyle position in Southern Italy, further solidifying this expansion. The AG Group owns the 129-key newbuild hotel, which is set to open in 2028.

Situated next to Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the hotel is anticipated to provide amenities like a spa, gym, and congress center, placing it firmly in one of Italy’s fastest-growing tourist attractions.

As its second Garner signing in Italy, IHG will bring the Garner brand to Turin by converting a 57-room hotel that is conveniently located. The project will build on IHG’s expanding presence in the city and support the ongoing expansion of its midscale conversion brand throughout Southern Europe. It is slated to debut in mid-2027 under a franchise agreement with Gruppo Stay, IHG’s first cooperation with the Italian hotel operator.

Across eight brands Six Senses, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, voco, Crowne Plaza, Garner, Holiday Inn, and Holiday Inn Express IHG currently operates 32 hotels in Italy, with another 20 under development. The signing of the first Kimpton hotel in Taormina, Sicily, and the recent opening of the first Garner property in the nation with the Garner Hotel Rome Aurelia are just two of the recent historic openings and signings in the nation.
