Air Rail service to Grindelwald is launched by SWISS and SBB.

With the inclusion of Grindelwald as a new destination, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has broadened its Air Rail service, improving international travellers’ access to the Bernese Alps.
In cooperation with Jungfrau Railways and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), the new connection was made available. The SWISS Air Rail network currently serves 25 destinations in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria thanks to this extension.
The development broadens SWISS’s reach into the Bernese Oberland region and builds on Interlaken’s December 2022 network integration. Travellers now have better access to one of Switzerland’s most famous alpine locations thanks to the collaboration with Jungfrau Railways, which provides smooth rail connectivity between Interlaken and Grindelwald.
Heike Birlenbach, Chief Customer Officer, SWISS stated, “Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region represent what many international guests associate with Switzerland: breathtaking alpine landscapes, unspoiled nature, and authentic Swiss experiences. Because so many of our visitors are from overseas, especially the UK, the USA, and Asia, the appeal is similarly high. The globe is now even closer to this area because to our long-haul network’s direct connection here.”
Remo Käser, Head of Marketing & Sales at Jungfrau Railways continued, “The Jungfrau region and the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe rank among Switzerland’s most visited destinations. We are thrilled that visitors from other countries may now travel even more pleasantly, immediately feel at home in this distinctive alpine setting, and quickly see the Jungfrau region’s highlights.”
With a single reservation that covers both aeroplane and rail travel, passengers utilising the SWISS Air Rail service enjoy an integrated travel experience. Rail tickets can be used from the day before departure to the day after arrival, whilst boarding cards are good for the duration of the trip. In the event of delays, connections are also guaranteed by the service.
Additionally, SWISS Business and First Class passengers enjoy first-class train travel on SBB services, and members of the Miles & More loyalty program can accrue miles and points on Air train trips.
