Georgia requires all foreign visitors to have health and accident insurance.

Georgia has mandated health and accident insurance for all visitors entering the state in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Tourism.” The date of this change was January 1, 2026. All international tourists must have a current health and accident insurance policy that covers their whole stay in Georgia, including their arrival and departure dates, in accordance with the new rule. Visitors must provide the insurance policy in electronic or hard copy, and it must be available in either English or Georgian. An international or Georgian insurance company may issue the policy. Nonetheless, a minimum insurance coverage of 30,000 Georgian Lari (GEL) is required.
The following information is required to be included in the insurance policy covered territory parties to the insurance contract. The following individuals are not required to carry insurance, those with diplomatic, official service, and special passports, those with diplomatic and special visas accredited staff members of consular representations, diplomatic missions, international organisations’ representation offices and comparable representation offices, as well as members of their families who are accredited individuals whose entry into Georgia is permitted by Georgia’s international treaties and agreements drivers involved in international passenger and freight transportation by road.
