FITUR 2026 establishes the standard for international involvement.

From January 21 to 25, 2026, Madrid will host the 46th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which is managed by IFEMA MADRID, taking centre stage once more in the world travel calendar. By highlighting both its expanding global reach and its rising emphasis on information as a catalyst for industry transformation, FITUR 2026 solidifies its position as one of the top tourism trade platforms in the world.

The figures presented during the formal press conference demonstrate the fair’s ongoing growth. More than 10,000 businesses from 161 countries will be present at FITUR 2026, which will take place in nine exposition rooms and formally represent 111 countries a 10% increase over 2025. There will be 967 major exhibitors at the event, and 11% more people from abroad will be attending altogether.

Additionally, 18 additional nations have joined this year’s event, primarily from Asia-Pacific and Africa, where representation has increased by 22% and 34%, respectively. Along with more regional involvement from Germany and the UK, notable new participants include Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Zanzibar.

The robust expansion of FITUR’s scale is indicative of the global tourist industry’s overall vigour. Over 1.1 billion people travelled abroad between January and September 2025, exceeding pre-pandemic levels in 2019, according to UN Tourism.

The Knowledge Hub Will Be the Main Event:-

The establishment of the Knowledge Hub, which is available throughout the fair in Hall 12, is a significant highlight of FITUR 2026. With eight auditoriums, ten conference programs, more than 200 sessions, and more than 250 high-level speakers from throughout the global tourist ecosystem, the Knowledge Hub is intended to serve as a strategic hub for tourism knowledge and discourse.

The first International Summit on Communication and Tourism, which will bring to gether experts from the public and private sectors to address new communication challenges in the tourism industry, and FITUR Experience, which focuses on experiential tourism as one of the sector’s most dynamic growth drivers, are two of the Knowledge Hub’s flagship initiatives. In keeping with the industry’s rapid digital change, the Travel Technology Area has doubled in size and will now include over 190 innovation-led businesses.

Good Economic Impact and Prospects for Visitors:-

With FITUR 2026 anticipating approximately 150,000 tourism professionals during the trade days and around 100,000 members of the general public over the weekend, high participation levels indicate a strong attendance. After generating an estimated €487 million for Madrid during its previous edition, FITUR remains a significant economic driver for the Spanish metropolis.

Mexico is identified as a partner nation:-

Mexico will have a significant representation at the show as the Partner Country for FITUR 2026. According to SECTUR, the tourist industry in Mexico grew by 13.9% between January and September 2025, coinciding with the categorisation. Mexico hopes to solidify its standing as the fifth most popular travel destination in the world through its collaboration with FITUR.

These topics include accessibility, cruises, technology, talent, sustainability, sports, screen tourism, and women in tourism. With more services on Metro Line 8, FITUR will encourage the use of public transport and implement a fast-track entrance for professionals at the South East access to improve the visiting experience.

The exhibition will welcome visitors over the weekend with a full schedule of events, seminars, and immersive experiences, solidifying FITUR’s position as the industry’s premier public celebration as well as a top B2B platform.
