Maharashtra Tourism has chosen Mangesh Joshi as its director.

As part of a recent administrative reorganisation, the Maharashtra government named Mangesh Joshi (IAS) as the new Director of the Directorate of Tourism. On April 21, 2026, he took over in Mumbai.

Joshi was active in administrative reforms, strategic planning, and training efforts while serving as Deputy Director General at Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA), Pune, prior to this position.

After becoming leadership, Joshi declared, “Maharashtra is a state rich in tourism potential. Ensuring the successful execution of current tourism policies and promoting the state’s tourist sites internationally will be our top priorities. Our goal is to establish Maharashtra as a distinctive and secure travel destination. Furthermore, we are dedicated to creating jobs locally and boosting the state’s overall growth through sustainable tourism projects.”

He added that in order to draw tourists, special efforts would be made in the near future to preserve and promote the state’s forts, vast coastline, eco-tourism resources, and cultural legacy, all of which will be enhanced by contemporary conveniences.
